Academy Award’09 winning American documentary film, The Cove, was about mass killing of dolphins in a National at Taiji, Wakayama, Japan.
 The film highlights that the number of whales killed in the Antarctic is several times lesser the number of dolphins killed in Japan, and it claims that almost 23,000 dolphins and porpoises are killed per year. The migrating dolphins are herded into a hidden cove where they are netted and killed by means of spears and knives over the side of small fishing boats.

On March 7, 2010 The Cove won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Film at the 82nd Academy Awards.

Avatar, the 3-D version natured themed movie couldn’t draw the attention that much. Although, it won a few Oscars in technical categories, but failed to win any of the big awards including Best Director and Best Movie which both finally went to James Cameron’s ex-wife, Kathryn Bigelow for her Iraq drama, The Hurt Locker.

The death counts more than 800 after a stunning 8.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the coast of Chile sparking tsunamis. Though, search and rescue efforts continue it is expected that the death toll will continue to rise.

Let's put that into perspective, a microsecond is only one-millionth of a second. This means, it's going to take 2,174 years for a whole second of time to be lost. It may not affect our daily schedules too much, but it’s a matter to think about how much impact an earthquake can have on the entire planet.
The Earthquake is said to have move the Earth's figure axis by about 3 inches. Chile is below the center of the earth's axis. A powerful enough quake there could upset the balance and shift the axis of the earth disturbing time. Earthquakes like this add up and are believed to be the reason we have a leap year some scientists say.

Navy plane crashed in Hyderabad.

Navy aircraft crashes during show of International India Aviation 2010 in Hyderabad, the ill fated plane is Surya Kiran, The aircraft was giving flying display during India Aviation 2010, which kicked off today at Begumpet airport.The reports say and the pilot has ejected safely.

Reports confirm Kiran HJT-16 of the Sagar Pawan aerobatic team has gone down.No Immediate casualties reported. Lately NDTV report tweeted that Hyderabad Police commissioner said pilot's fate is not known yet, late news confirms the death of pilot, recent reports of NDTV yet to be confirmed. Reports trickle says one person died and five injured.

In case the IAF aircraft crashes into residential area or in crowed residential area police suspect some people may have died. Telugu channels reports that pilot died and 5 people injured and the damage to property being ascertained. Official communication is awaited.

Praful Patel, Civil Aviation Minister: "There was an unfortunate incident where a Navy fighter has met with an accident. There are no official details as of now. Therefore I refrain from making comments on pilots and residents of where the aircraft met with accident." He also added, "I only pray almighty that there should not be any loss of life.”

Rick Perry,a fifth generation Texan, grew up the son of tenant farmers in the West Texas,a tiny town of Paint Creek. Ray and Amelia Perry’s younger child, Rick was active in scouting and earned distinction as an Eagle Scout.

Rick Perry was one of the first in his family to go to college, earning a degree in Animal Science at Texas A&M, where he was also a member of the Corps of Cadets and a Yell Leader.

Perry served in the U.S. Air Force flying C-130 tactical airlift aircraft in the Europe and the Middle East,Between 1972 and 1977.He is a lifetime member of American Legion Post #75.

He was elected Lieutenant Governor in 1998, he served two terms as Texas Commissioner of Agriculture and four terms in the Texas House of Representatives.
