The earthquake in Chile, a devastating causes 800+ death and almost same number injured, may have a further more destructive effect as Scientists of NASA stated, the quake may change earth’s axis and shortened day. Read next for details…..
The death counts more than 800 after a stunning 8.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the coast of Chile sparking tsunamis. Though, search and rescue efforts continue it is expected that the death toll will continue to rise.
The aftermath seriousness may well be realized from Chilean president Michelle Bachelet’s word as he said, “We have seen images that are, frankly, intolerable. We want to make it clear that it won’t be accepted. The government will apply the full force of the law.”Rather than 10,000 Chilean soldiers are working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of their people. As looters run rampant, aid has been hindered and is slowly reaching to needy people.
In addition to that, scientists of NASA have stated that the 8.8 magnitude Chilean earthquake has caused a strange phenomenon. We have lost time in a day. The earthquake apparently shifted the earth's axis changing the length of a 24-hour day, so a JPL scientist said, adding our day has shortened by 1.26 microseconds. Let's put that into perspective, a microsecond is only one-millionth of a second. This means, it's going to take 2,174 years for a whole second of time to be lost. It may not affect our daily schedules too much, but it’s a matter to think about how much impact an earthquake can have on the entire planet.
The Earthquake is said to have move the Earth's figure axis by about 3 inches. Chile is below the center of the earth's axis. A powerful enough quake there could upset the balance and shift the axis of the earth disturbing time. Earthquakes like this add up and are believed to be the reason we have a leap year some scientists say.
